Two leading businessmen group namely Unaided Business Group (UBG) led by S. M. Muneer and Iftikar Ali Malik and Businessmen Group (BMG) led by Siraj Kassim Teli have joined hand to make joint efforts for resolving issues faced buy business community, accelerate industrial and economic activities and eliminate fake chambers and associations from Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
Leader of UBG S M Muneer has announced formation of a committee headed by Senior Vice President FPCCI Abdul Rahim Janoo and asked Teli to provide two names to be included in the committee to scrutinise chambers and associations to eliminate fake associations and chambers.
A luncheon meeting was held at Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) where Teli and S. M. Muneer pledged to work jointly for the cause of business community and agitate business community issues at federal, provincial level and take these up with concern ministries and agencies.
Speaking on the occasion Teli said that the country was facing serious law and order and economic challenges including increased incidents of extortion, gas and power shortages. He said that the prevailing condition in the city indicated that coming days may be tougher for business community and general public.
He said that Sindh produced around 73 percent of gas and under constitution of the country Sindh had first right over it but the government was not ready to provide its right. He claimed that there was no shortage of gas in the country and the main issue was mismanagement. He said that joint efforts should be made for re-promulgation of Trade Organisation Ordinance 2007 with minor amendments. S. M. Muneer announced unconditional support to BMG.
He agreed that there were many fake chambers and associations in FPCCI and assured that they all would be eliminated. Referring to Peshawar School incident in which 142 children were killed, he said that the incident united the nation. He demanded that the military courts should be made functional as soon as possible.
He appreciated Teli and his group members for supporting him and their agreement for making joint efforts for resolving business community's issues. Senator Haseeb Khan said that the country was facing serous economic challenges and it was high time to make joint efforts to improve economic condition. President Karachi Industrial Alliance Mian Zahid Husain said that the business community would make efforts to overcome unemployment. President KATI, Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui said that the business community got united in the best interest of the country.
