Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif directed concerned authorities to ensure effective implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP), as the steps taken in this regard are proving very effective. He issued these directives during a meeting, which was held here on Friday to review overall law and order situation in the province and the steps taken under National Action Plan, disclosed an official.
The Chief Minister said concerned institutions are performing their responsibilities with the best co-ordination. He also said the Punjab government, with the help of concerned departments, has taken immediate and effective measures while necessary amendments have also been made in the laws for making sentences more stringent. "The nation has resolved to eliminate terrorism, extremism and sectarianism on permanent basis, and terrorists and extremists are going to meet their logical end very soon," he added.
According to him, Pakistan will be rid of the menace of terrorism and extremism with the force of national unity. A decisive action is being taken against terrorists and the whole nation is standing by its armed forces and law-enforcement agencies in the war against terrorism. There is a new spirit and determination in the Pakistani nation and it is time to take decisive action to root out the menace of terrorism. Victory is the only option in the war against terrorism, which will be won at any cost so as to come up to the expectations of the masses.
"Extraordinary measures are being taken in the existing extraordinary situation for the protection of life and property of people and encouraging results are being witnessed. War against terrorism is vital for the survival of coming generations and a collective decision has been taken for restoration of peace and law and order in the country. There is no room for extremism and terrorism in the country, which will be rooted out to make Pakistan an Islamic welfare state in the real sense," he added.
The meeting reviewed in detail the measures taken in the province for eradication of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. Provincial Minister for Home Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd.), Member Provincial Assembly Rana Sanaullah, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home and concerned officers were present on the occasion.
