The city police on Wednesday chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the eve of Eid-ul-fitr under which over 2600 policemen would perform security duties at 750 mosques and 40 Imambargahs during Eid prayer as well as other important building to avert any toward incident. A senior official of ICT police said that the city police have finalised a comprehensive security plan in meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tahir Alam Khan.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sajjid Kayani and other senior officials also attended the meeting, he said. He said that under the security plan, more than 2600 policemen would be deployed in various localities of the city during Eid holidays to control possible house burglaries during Eid holidays from July 17 to 21.
Mosques and imambargahs will be covered by armed guards and policemen during Eid ul Fitr prayers, he said. The official said that according to the security plan, the city police would made special deployment at Faisal Mosque on Eid day as well as walkthrough gates would be installed to ensure strict checking. The city police would also set additional police picket in the city as a part of security measure, he said. He said that during Eid holidays, policeman would conduct round the clock patrolling in the city to check house burglaries.
All public places including parks, playgrounds and markets would be kept under strict surveillance. Special police teams would be deployed at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Yasmin Garden, Manal, Lake View Park, Chattar Park and Centaurus. Police has also been directed to conduct strict checking of vehicles at the city exit and entry points, he said. The IGP also directed Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to make special deployment plan and in markets as well as shopping areas to manage traffic and ensure planned parking.
Meanwhile, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalised the cleanliness and security arrangements of different parks and Eid ghah on eve Eid-ul-Fitr. An official of CDA said that a meeting headed by CDA chairman Maroof Afzal reviewed the arrangements made by the the civic body. The authority has constituted special teams which will sweep the city during the Eid holidays so that residents of the twin cities could celebrate the festivities of Eid in cleaner environment.-PR
