Reports from a number of Instagramers have been pouring in about their Instagram accounts being hacked, most with them having the same approach.
Numerous people were lately seen reporting that their Instagram accounts have been hacked. The users suddenly find themselves logged out of their accounts and when tried to log back in, their information including profile image, bio and contact info have been changed, reported Mashable.
The people often had their profile images replaced with a Disney or Pixar character and the email address connected to the account is changed to an account with a .ru Russian domain. Few users even had their two-factor authentication turned off by the hackers. However, the hackers do not seem to be adding photos to the account or removing the old ones.
Users can now group video call and browse on Instagram
Due to the altered email addresses, the regain of the accounts is a bit tricky as Instagram’s automated message would go to the new email. Hundreds of the victims took to Twitter and Reddit to report the hacks. Citing an analytics platform Talkwalker, Mashable reported that there are over 5,000 tweets from 899 accounts mentioning Instagram hack in the last week.
Moreover, acknowledging the problem, the social media site took to Twitter to help users regain access to their accounts.
