LHC dismisses Khalid Latif's appeal

11 Jul, 2017

A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed Intra Court Appeal (ICA) of suspended test cricketer Khalid Latif challenging a single bench decision and the proceedings of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anti-corruption tribunal on spot-fixing charges against him.
Khalid Latif had filed the ICA against single bench decision which dismissed his petition against the PCB. In his appeal, Khalid Latif claimed his innocence and contended that the single bench could not appreciate his claim. He prayed the court to set aside single bench's order and the proceedings against him pending before the anti-corruption tribunal of the PCB.
Khalid Latif and four other players had been charged for breaching the PCB's anti-corruption code during the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL). He faced charges relating to fixing and failure to report it, and attempted to lure other players to fixing. Khalid Latif was provisionally suspended and expelled from the PSL in Dubai on February 10 on charges of meeting a suspicious man linked to an international betting syndicate.
