The Karachi Port handled 352,365 tonnes of cargo comprising 290,904 tonnes of import cargo and 61,461 tonnes of export cargo including 7,263 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 290,904 tonnes comprised of 81,983 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,507 tonnes of general cargo; 87,561 tonnes of bulk cargo: 69,858 tonnes of coal; 7,031 tonnes of steel scrap; 10,672 tonnes of fertilizer and 90,853 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,461 tonnes comprised of 38,809 tonnes of containerised cargo; 14,752 tonnes of loose bulk cement cargo and 7,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,263 containers comprising of 3,165 containers import and 4,098 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,253 of 20's and 956 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 560 of 20's and 263 of 40's loaded containers while 940 of 20's and 1,036 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely CMA CGM Rossni, Najran, Rio Cadiz, Polo, Iosonas, MT Lahore, NCC Najem, Bow Mekka, SL Teal, Engiadina, Dream Jasmine and Kiran Asya carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas, coal, chemical, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were thirteen vessels viz. Cosco New York, Express Black Sea, Hyundai Splendor, MT Lahore, Bunga Lily, Skelt, Casper, Stolt Lotus, Winterset, Pacific Bright, Hony Future, Sea Coral and Hong Source carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, cement and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely CMA CGM Rossni, Rio Cadiz, NCC Najem and Kiran Asya carrying containers, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Polo carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were seven vessels viz. OOCL California, KMTC Dubai, APL Japan, Maribor, MT Quetta, Athina and Yuhua Star carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday while seven vessels viz. Seaspan Hudson, Northern Dependant, Prosper, Viking Amber, Porthos, Zi Jing Song and SE Panthea carrying containers, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
A cargo volume of 99,757 tonnes comprising 82,277 tonnes of import cargo and 17,480 tonnes of export cargo including 1,807 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 82,277 tonnes includes 33,752 tonnes of furnace oil; 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,846 tonnes of LPG; 3,259 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 8,030 tonnes of coal; 10,646 tonnes of chemical; 1,391 tonnes of general cargo and 16,853 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,480 tonnes includes 17,480 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,807 containers comprising of 887 containers import and 920 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were three ships namely CV APL Japan, CV Safmarine Ngami and MT Stena Immportal carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MV Prothos and MT White Purl carrying general cargo and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV APL Japan, CV Safmarine Ngami, MV Prothos, MV Wish Way, MV Nautical Alice, MT White Purl, MT Star Trader, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Ginga Puma and MT Stena Immportal currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, dreger, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen ships namely MV Izumo, MV Star Planet, MV Leto, MV Yang Ze LO, MV Golden Catharine, MV Gas Odyssey, MT Gas Log Seattle, MT Jag Lavanya, MT Pacific Panama, MT BW Yang Tze, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Al-Dasma, MT Gennie, MT Scirocco, MT Maritim Nordic, MT Sky Ploeg and MT Chemstar Tiger carrying general cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six vessels viz. CV Prosper, CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Chicago, MV Izumo, MT Gas Log Seattle and MT Chemstar Tiger carrying containers, general cargo, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There were seven ships namely CV Prosper, CV Express Black Sea, CV MSC Chicago, MV Urine Bulker, MT Gaspian Gas, MT Maran Gas Asclepius and Marshal Island carrying containers, steel coil, LNG, LPG, and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Monday.. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Hartford and CV APL Columbus carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
