Activities at Karachi & Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 157,915 tonnes of cargo comprising 132,680 tonnes of import cargo and 25,235 tonnes of export cargo including 7,049 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 132,680 tonnes comprised of 44,524 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,850 tonnes of general cargo; 26,064 tonnes of bulk cargo: 14,610 tonnes of coal; 3,865 tonnes of steel scrap; 6,889 tonnes of fertilizer; 700 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 51,242 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 25,235 tonnes comprised of 22,384 tonnes of containerised cargo; 51 tonnes of general cargo and 2,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,049 containers comprising of 3,119 containers import and 3,930 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The breakup of imported containers shows 1,128 of 20's and 966 of 40's loaded while 19 of 20's and 20 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 655 of 20's and 293 of 40's loaded containers while 581 of 20's and 1,054 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Cosco New York, Prosper, Casper, SFL Hudson and Viking Amber carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Seaspan Hudson, Northern Dependant, Prosper, Arabian Orchid, APJ Shirin, SL Teal and Da De carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer, tug and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely KMTC Dubai, Seaspan Hudson and Bunga Lily carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely Kota Karim, Pacific Bright, Spring Oasis and Hong Source carrying containers, coal, DAP and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were two vessels viz. Kota Karim and SE Panthea carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. MSC Tasmania, Wan Hai-501, Alexandria Bridge and Teal Bulker carrying containers and DAP respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

A cargo volume of 78,256 tonnes comprising 69,394 tonnes of import cargo and 8,862 tonnes of export cargo including 2,784 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 69,394 tonnes includes 9,187 tonnes of furnace oil; 5,689 tonnes of palm oil; 4,916 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 49,602 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 8,862 tonnes includes 8,862 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,784 containers comprising of 2,362 containers import and 422 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were four ships namely MV Gas Odyssey, MV Nautical Alice, MV Wish Way and MT Gas Log Seattle carrying chemical, coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Esthi, CV APL Columbus, MV Gas Odyssey, MV Nautical Alice, MT Gas Log Seattle, MT Star Trader, MT Jag Lavanya and MT Sky Ploeg currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, chemical, coal, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as eleven ships namely MV Star Planet, MV Leto, MV Yang Ze LO, MV Golden Catharine, MT Pacific Panama, MT Jag Lavanya, MT BW Yang Tze, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Al Dasma, MT Gennie and MT Maritim Nordic carrying soyabean, canola seeds, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV SL Africa, MV YM Miranda and MV Unibulker carrying containers, steel and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
