Sonam Kapoor’s latest release ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ has just hit theatres worldwide on Friday, but it won’t see the light of the day in Pakistan without even facing any ban.
Although the film has not been banned, the reason behind getting no release is that none of the distributors bought the film for a Pakistan release, local media reported.
The film also has sensitive content about a female who comes out of the closet to love someone of same sex. Similarly, last year Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Padman’ did not see release in Pakistan owing to its sensitive topic and this year it’s ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’.
It becomes the first mainstream Indian film to show family accepting their daughter's sexual orientation and coming to terms with her for being in love with another woman.
Opening across India on Friday, this film has been the subject of a careful marketing campaign that has avoided explicitly spelling out its plot. The movie also stars Anil Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao in the lead roles.
