Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law will return to its popular franchise ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in 2021. The movie was initially scheduled to hit theatres in 2020 but Warner Bros Studios recently announced that the exact release date of Sherlock Holmes 3 will be pushed to December 22, 2021.
‘Sherlock Holmes 3’ has been stuck in development for almost a decade now. Although the first Sherlock Holmes was a hit and the sequel ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ made even more money worldwide.
Downey stars as the titular character while Law portrays his partner, Dr. John Watson, as a pair of detectives during the 1890s navigating and solving mysteries and crimes. The first Sherlock Holmes film was shown in 2009. Its second movie, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was released in 2011.
As the movie has been kicked to Christmas 2021, but that Christmas 2021 is already pretty crowded. ‘Hotel Translyvania 4’ has also been locked for release on the same weekend along with the long-awaited adaptation of ‘Wicked’. Not to forget, the infamous ‘Avatar 3’ will also hit theatres on December 17, 2021.
Downey for now will soon wear his armoured suit (Iron Man) in an upcoming installment of 'Avengers' series (Avengers: End Game) schedule to hit theatres on April 26, 2019.
