Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar slammed Pakistan cricket team for their humiliating loss at the hands of archrivals India at the ICC World Cup match on Sunday at Old Trafford. The outspoken Shoaib slammed skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, calling him ‘brainless’ for opting to bowl first despite knowing that his side is not good while chasing targets. “I can’t understand how Sarfaraz can be so brainless when choosing to bowl first. How could he forget that we don’t chase very well and when he knows our strength is not batting but bowling," said Akhtar. Sarfaraz won the toss and opted to bowl first, allowing India to score 336 runs on the board in their innings. The former speedster also criticized Hasan Ali, as the fast bowler went for 84 runs in his nine overs against India, becoming Pakistan’s most expensive bowler in World Cup tournament. "I don't understand Hasan Ali's mindset which seems to be centered around just becoming a good T20 bowler. There is no pace or swing in his bowling. I fail to understand what he is trying to achieve. Has he decided that he just wants to play T20?” questioned Akhtar. The Pakistani cricket team is on the receiving hand after they got easily crushed by India by 89 runs (DLS method).
