UET Peshawar and M/S Northern Bottling Company (Pvt) Limited, PEPSI Peshawar signed the Letter of understanding here Friday. Hassan Bin Aqeel, Head of Production Northern Bottling Co (Pvt) Ltd and Prof Dr Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar signed the LoU. Under the LoU, 2500 Indigenous plants will be handed over to UET Peshawar to plant them on different sites of the Campus and will be responsible to take care including watering, fertilizing and take care of horticultural requirements of the trees once they get planted, according to a press release issued here on Friday.
The Vice Chancellor in his address stressed on strengthening "academia-industry and government linkages" adding through this partnership, mutual exchange of student internship programmes and joint research and consultative programmes will be extended between the faculty and researchers and professionals at the Northern Bottling Pvt Ltd.
To address the increasing challenges of environment degradation due to deforesting and Carbon emissions, Hassan Bin Aqeel informed that the Northern Bottling Co (Pvt) Ltd has been able to save 100ml water in just one year through water conservative mechanism.
He said that the LoU is based on the spirit to bring in the expertise of engineers and professionals from UET Peshawar and Northern Bottling Co (Pvt) Ltd to help communities in relevant fields and stressed the students to focus on final year projects that serve the needs of environment.
He said, the Company will welcome innovative solutions and research in key areas of water conservation; solid waste management and reducing CO2 emissions. Later, a tree plantation ceremony was held in presence of officials.
Senior officials from UET Peshawar including Registrar UET Peshawar Dr Khizar Azam Khan, Provost Prof Dr Sahr Noor, Dr Tariq Khalil, Manager Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization, UET Peshawar and official from Northern Bottling Pvt Ltd including Anees Akbar, Engineering Manager and Basit Khan Yousafzai, Assistant Manager Procurement were also present on the occasion.
