The incidents of armed snatching, robbery and carjacking registered a significant increase in the federal capital, as over 10 cases of various kinds of thefts and 11 cases of car lifting were reported to different police stations of the city.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, the most 'favorite' areas were within the limits of Karachi Company, Aabpara, Bani Gala, Koral, Kohsar and Industrial Area police stations.
During the last week, Karachi Company police station registered three cases of auto theft. The motor vehicles thieves stole a bike bearing registration number MBK-7929 of one Shabir Ahmed valuing Rs80,000; took away another bike bearing registration number GTN-845 of a citizen Sajid Iqbal valuing Rs50,000; and lifted a car bearing registration number IDA-3487 of a person namely Baber Naeem worth Rs 300,000.
In the same period, Industrial Area police station registered two cases of armed snatching. Unknown armed persons snatched Rs 200,000 from a citizen Azra Bibi, a foreign national, at Sector I-8/4 in broad daylight. The victim family reported the incident to Industrial Area police station but the police have so far been clueless about the culprits.
In another incident, one victim Ameer filed a complaint with Industrial Area police station that that two armed persons riding a bike snatched Rs 150,000 from him at gunpoint and escaped from the scene.
Two cases of robbery were reported to Bani Gala police station in the same period. One Aziz Altaf informed Bani Gala police station that three armed persons riding a bike snatched his purse, containing Rs 127,000 cash.
One Waseem Sajjad filed a complaint with Bani Gala police station that one Muhammad Mustafa along with others allegedly stole his buffalos valuing Rs 300,000.
