Sindh Government has reconstituted Provincial Disaster Risk Management Coordination (PDRMC) Committee to prioritize, evaluate and oversee subprojects being undertaken in the province under roadmap of the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) to enhance resilience to climate change and other natural hazards. According to terms of references, the committee would promote opportunities available through the fund including its business plan and priority investment areas as well as appraisal /prioritization of subprojects for NDRMF.
It would also institutionalize the accreditation and risk assessment procedures for public and non-government entities. Besides, it would spearhead proposals/guidelines in different sub-sectors and coordinate with the stakeholders with regard to Disaster Risk Management initiatives being undertaken in the region as well as oversee updating the status of the NDMP implementation and prioritize/reprioritize the activities in the DRMP roadmap.
The committee is headed by Chairperson Planning & Development Board. It is comprised of Secretary Finance, Secretary Works & Services, Secretary Rehabilitation Department, Secretary Irrigation, Secretary PHE&RD, Secretary Agriculture, Supply & Prices, Secretary Forest & Wildlife, Secretary Livestock & Fisheries, Secretary School Education & Literacy, Secretary Health, Secretary Planning & Development, Secretary College Education, Secretary Environment, Climate Change & Coastal Development, Director General PDMA Sindh.
