Lawyers, doctors join hands to dispel impression of rift

Lawyers and doctors here on Saturday joined hands to dispel the impression of any rift in the two professions and vowed to work together for the betterment of the society. The lawyers from the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA), Karachi Bar Association (KBA) and doctors from Young Doctors Association (YDA) and Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) sit together when doctors visited Sindh Bar Council.

Zia Makhdoom, President SHCBA addressing a press conference termed the PIC incident unfortunate and demanded that the responsible elements should be punished.

He said that both lawyers and doctors respect each other and said that noted that some forces wanted to create the division between doctors and lawyers.

He assured doctors that lawyers would not support any move against doctors and said that the issue would not have been gone to the extent if media would not have been blown out in the media.

Haseeb Jamali, General Secretary SHCBA said that issue related to PIC incident should not be stretched out further for the sake of peace and tranquility.

Haider Imam Rizvi, leader of lawyers community, said that lawyers gave huge sacrifices for the cause of democracy and said that rift between doctors and lawyers should end.

Dr Umar Sultan, Chairman YDA condemned PIC incident and vowed that the anti-peace elements would not be allowed to succeed in their designs.

He said that lawyers gave a commendable message to the doctors by inviting them to the bar.

Dr Qaisar Sajjad, Secretary General PMA, said that judicial inquiry should be held into the incident and said that police failed to check the elements, which attacked PIC.

He said that a meeting would be held at PMA house next week to chalk out the future course of action. He said that they would also carry the message of peace and tranquility to Punjab if it was required.
