OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, against USD, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling with respect to yesterday's rates closing at 160.20 and 160.80 respectively.
Against Euro, PKR gained 1 rupee for both buying and selling closing at 171 and 172.50 respectively.
Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 10 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling closing at 42.90 and 43.20 respectively thus regaining the value lost on Wednesday.
Against Saudi Riyal, PKR exchange rate recorded no change over yesterday's rates closing at 41.90 and 42.20 for buying and selling respectively.
LAHORE
The Pak rupee slightly recovered its earlier loss in relation to the greenback in the local currency markets on Thursday.
According to currency dealers, the greenback opened at Rs 160.80 and Rs 161.50 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 160.50 and Rs 161.15 on Wednesday. At the close, the dollar was traded at Rs 160.30 and Rs 161.10 on buying and selling counters, respectively, the dealers added.
On the other hand, the local currency showed weakness against the British Pound. The Pound was traded at Rs 196.10 and Rs 198.50 on buying and selling sides, respectively, as against Rs 195.10 and Rs 198.00 on Wednesday, the dealers added.
ISLAMABAD
The rupee remained firm against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday. The dollar opened at Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.60(selling) against same last rate.
The dollar closed at Rs160.50(buying) and Rs 160.60(selling).
The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 103,400(selling) and Rs. 103,200 ( buying) in the local Sarafa(gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
