KARACHI: Victoria Beckham is to visit Dublin next week to meet fans of her clothing collection at Brown Thomas. It will be her first visit to the store.

Media sources report that the "special customer event" to be held next Wednesday, will see Beckham meet over 50 people who have bought her designs over the past two years.

Industry cynics were vocal when she launched a limited edition fashion collection in autumn 2008.

However they were forced to eat humble pie when Beckham's brand defied retail trends, especially in Ireland where customers raced to pre-order her €1,200-plus dresses before they hit the stores.

Brown Thomas was among the first nine stores in the world to buy into Beckham's fashion vision and she will pay her first visit there next week.

The special customer event will include a fashion show featuring dresses from Victoria's mainline autumn-winter 2012 collection, and there will also be an installation of dresses from her newer, less expensive label, “Victoria, Victoria Beckham” where prices starting at €450.

Recessionary cutbacks have not affected sales of the Victoria Beckham brand in Ireland. Sales of her clothing range in Brown Thomas have trebled in the last three years.

Ireland is special to Victoria. She came here as Posh Spice to record a Spice Girls video in Rathdrum in January 1998, and returned the following year to marry her husband David Beckham at Luttrellstown Castle.
