KARACHI: Newly-separated Actor Tom Cruise seems like a man on a mission for his Scientology sect and has been reported trying to recruit British Comedian Russell Brand.

Apparently the newly-single 50-year-old reckons former addict Brand would be the perfect spokesperson for the controversial church's "Narconon" program.

"Tom thinks Russell's battle with alcohol and drug addiction is a way to reach out to the vulnerable," an LA spy told the media.

Cruise introduced Russell Brand to Hollywood Studio boss Sumner Redstone as the boss wanted Brand to host an event that with help people with addiction.

In April this year Brand spoke to the UK Parliament about the need to treat drug and alcohol addicts with compassion, but we're not sure if he'd be keen to sign up with Scientologists to promote his cause.

In June the Comedian told the BBC, "I don't have any kind of theology or religion," before hosting a question and answer night with Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama.

Earlier this year Cruise and Brand appeared together in the comedy flick “Rock of Ages”. But whether or not they’ll be attending Scientology seminars together has yet to be seen.
