Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway speak out on Colorado tragedy

KARACHI: After Director Christopher Nolan released an emotional statement about the incident, the film's leading stars Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway have also spoken out, offering their condolences to everyone affected by the tragedy.

“My heart aches and breaks for the lives taken and altered by this unfathomably senseless act.  I am at a loss for words how to express my sorrow.  My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.” Hathaway said while expressing her sympathies.

Speaking out for the first time since James Holmes opened fire at an Aurora cinema killing 12 people, including a 12-year-old, and injuring 58 others at a midnight screening of the new Batman movie on Thursday, Bale, 38, released a statement.

“Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them,” he said.

Stars of “The Dark Knight Rises” took a private jet from Paris home to Los Angeles this weekend as promotion for the film was cancelled in the French capital in the wake of the shooting tragedy.

As well as the Paris premiere, Warner Bros. has also cancelled scheduled premieres in Mexico and Japan.

A source told media that executives of Warner Bros. are hoping to replace the old trailers as quickly as possible.

However, the studio risks losing millions in what is regarded as the biggest release of the year so far and which has been predicted to be one of the highest earning movies of all time.
