The HIVAIDS remains world most dreaded disease, as it has claimed lives of millions of people particularly in the poor regions, and is also considered to be incurable.
Not for long as a British man may have become the first person in the world to be cured of HIV.
Thanks to an ongoing pioneering treatment, the 44-year-old patient opined that he had shown "remarkable" progress under the therapy, reported The Sunday Times.
“This is one of the first serious attempts at a full cure for HIV,” Mark Samuels of Britain's National Institute for Health Research. The treatment is designed to track and destroy the HIV AIDS virus in every part of the body.
Results from the treatment showed the man’s most recent blood test revealed no detectable traces of HIV. However, scientists are of the view that it is too early to tell if the treatment has worked completely.
“This is a huge challenge and it’s still early days but the progress has been remarkable.”
HIV which stands for (human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus which causes AIDS, it leaves a human body immune system too weak to be able to fight off infection. At present the virus affects almost 37 million people living globally, reported Sky News.
It is a serious epidemic in Sub-Saharan Africa, with southern Africa the worst affected region.
