KARACHI: Muhammad Zahid Khokhar, Director General, Directorate General of Transit Trade has lost his struggle against Covid-19 and passed away at private hospital in Karachi on Monday morning.

According to details, Zahid Khokar, who was known as most disciplined and honest officer in Pakistan Customs, was recently promoted to BS-22. He was posted at Director General, Directorate General of Transit Trade. He was the most senior officer in Pakistan Customs Service (PCS) and served on several key positions including Member Customs, DG, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation (DGI&I), Customs, Chief Collectors, etc.

Officials in Pakistan Customs said that he was in self isolation at his residence in Karachi for last several days but following his unstable condition, he was moved to private hospital on June 12, 2020 where he took his last. Later, his coffin, wrapped with the flags of Pakistan and Customs department, was paid last salute by customs officers and staff and sent him to Lahore via flight PK 304 for rituals. His funeral prayers were offered in the mosque at Model Town and later he was laid to rest in Maryaan graveyard, Lahore.
