Dr Sultan Azam Temuri, a grade BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, on Saturday assumed charge as new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, replacing former IGP Muhammad Khalid Khattak. Temuri was appointed as IGP a few days ago and he served as Regional Police Officer (RPO) at Gujranwala Division before his current appointment.
The Establishment Division got the approval of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and appointed Temuri as IGP Islamabad after Interior minister recommended his name. He had served as assistant inspector general in Islamabad Police and senior superintendent of Islamabad Traffic Police.
Meanwhile, incumbent ICT IG Muhammad Khalid Khattak, a BS-20 officer of Police Service of Pakistan, was transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division with immediate effect and until further orders.
