Weekly inflation goes up by 0.50pc
ISLAMABAD: The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on June 9, for the lowest income group up to Rs.3,000, has registered increase of 0.50 per cent over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 301.20 points as against 299.71 points registered in the previous week, according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered increase of 0.99 per cent by rising from 259.74 in the previous week to 262.32 in the week under review.
As compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for combined group in the week under review witnessed increase of 15.09 percent.
As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income groups ranging from Rs.3001-5000 and above Rs.12,000 witnessed increase of 0.47 percent and 0.38 percent respectively.
During the week under review average prices of 5 items registered decrease, while that of 22 items increased with the remaining 26 items' prices unchanged.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included, chicken (farm), Bananas, L.P.G.( 11 kg cylinder), red chillies and masoor pulse washed.
The items which registered increase in their prices included, tomatoes, cigarettes, egg hen (farm) sugar, potatoes, garlic, bath soap lifebouy, onions, mutton, beef, kerosene, gram pulse washed, wheat (average quality), gur. milk fresh, moong pulse washed, washing soap, vegetable ghee loose, shirting, curd, rice basmati broken and mash pulse washed.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included, wheat flour (average quality), rice IRRI-6, bread plain, milk powdered, vegetable ghee (tin), mustard oil, cooking oil (tin), salt powdered, tea packet, tea (prepared), cooked beef palate, cooked dal palate, coarse latha, lawn, voil printed, sandal gents, sandal ladies, firewood, electric bulb, match box, gas charges, electricity charges (1-100), petrol, diesel, and telephone local call.
