KARACHI: The Saylani Welfare Trust distributed CNG rickshaws among the jobless.A ceremony in this connection was held at its Bahadurabad head office here Sunday.
A prominent industrialist, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, was the chief guest on the occasion.
A spokesman of the Trust, Naveed Usman, said that 50 CNG rickshaws were distributed on Sunday whereas an equal number were handed over last week.
He said that a CNG rickshaw costs Rs160,000 and a down payment of Rs25,000 is received from the recipient with Rs250 daily and thus the cost is recovered in up to two years' time.
Speaking on the occasion, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, lauded the welfare work rendered by the Saylani Trust.
He was of the view that this is service to humanity and others should also contribute their bit.
The patron of the Trust, Muhammad Bashir Farooqui, said that the "Dastarkhwan" of the organisation is making available meals two times a day to some 60,000 poor and needy.
Some 2,200 litres of milk is also being made available at 13 points in the metropolis at a rate of Rs 40 a litre.
The ceremony was also attended by Mufti Munib- ur- Rehman, Haji
Abdul Razzaq, Abdul Rahim Janoo, Abdul Majeed Pardesi.
