LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved an amount of Rs 6009.793 million for the elimination of child and bonded labour under an integrated project.
The project is being launched for promotion of "Decent Work for Vulnerable Workers" in Punjab, a senior official of the Planning and Development Department told APP here on Sunday.
He said that the project was a part of the government's efforts to control all forms of child labour and increase literacy rate in the province.
Spendings of the funds would help increasing opportunities of education and learning for the children and uplift socio-economic condition of the next generation, he said.
The official said the PDWP has also granted approval of capacity building for managing emergencies in high rise buildings, Lahore at a cost of Rs 783.984 million.
The step is of vital importance keeping in view the incidents of fire and other occurrences in the important buildings in provincial capital and other part of the province, he said.
