ISLAMABAD: The Sub-Committee of National Assembly on Electoral Reforms on Thursday asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to evaluate and inform the financial cost of 400 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to be installed in a single constituency and over all 300,000 EVMs.
Talking to media after the meeting, he said that the committee asked the Election Commission to give time frame for opening tender of Electronic Voting Machines as soon as possible.
Minister of State for Information Technology, Anusha Rehman told media that the committee had almost done its work on the use of EVMs and Biometrics System for the upcoming elections.
She also hoped that efforts were being made to ensure use Biometrics Machines in the next General Elections.
NADRA has agreed on the steps to secure voters data through biometrics system as suggested by the IT ministry, she added.
She said NADRA, ECP and IT ministry would finalize the technical aspects of biometrics mechanism soon.
