ISLAMABAD: Chief Selector Rashid Latif has said that Pakistan should stick with Kamran Akmal for the rest of the Twenty-20 World Cup matches as he was a good player of limited-overs cricket.
He said there was no suitable replacement available for Shoaib Malik in the middle order. "Malik is also a very good limited-overs cricket player," he said while talking to a private news channel.
Praising Ahmed Shehzad for his brilliant play in the match against Bangladesh, Rashid said he played well under pressure. "This innings was due from him as he had been misfiring before," he said.
Speaking of pacer Junaid Khan, Rashid said he did not see Junaid playing in the next match.
Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar said no team could defeat Pakistan if they bat sensibly. "The outcome cannot be predicted if Pakistan don't bat well, don't chase runs and start panicking," he said.
Shoaib said there was no team in the tournament that could defeat Pakistan now. "It is up to Pakistan to play well and win matches in this T20 event," he said.
Shoaib suggested the team management to play Sohail Tanvir instead of Bilawal Bhatti. "Shehzad should be given another chance to see how keen he is to play and score runs for Pakistan," he said.
Shoaib said if Sharjeel was to be played, then he should be allowed to play the way he wanted to.
Test batsman Azhar Ali said Shehzad had all the shots in the book. "Pakistan scored at least 30 more runs then they should have scored," he said.
Azhar Ali said said Sohail Tanvir would require a few more matches to gain rhythm. "I would like see Junaid bowling in the next match," he said adding Junaid had a very good record against West Indies batsman Chris Gayle.
Pakistan will play against West Indies on Tuesday.
