hyderabad 400HYDERABAD: The people of Hyderabad celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi with religious sanctity as well as traditional zeal, enthusiasm, fervour and festivity on Friday like other parts of the country.

 

Earlier the religious organisations also finalised the arrangements of taking out Milad processions and motorcades from different parts of Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad which after marching on different routes joined the main Milad procession brought out from Salawat Para after Juma prayers.

 

The main Milad procession escorted by the Rangers, Police, Open Air Scouts and volunteers of Civil Defence terminated after Maghrib prayers at Koh-e-Noor Chowk after marching through its traditional routes.

 

Ceremonial gates were installed in different parts of the district particularly on the routes of main Milad procession while the mosques as well as public and private buildings were illuminated with colourful buntings and laser lights.

 

The local newspapers brought out special supplements while radio and television channels also broadcast and telecast special programmes of Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

 

Strict security arrangements were witnessed in the entire district particularly along the routes of Milad processions while on the request of the district administration, the PTA also blocked mobile phone services from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in order to avert any act of terrorism during Milad processions. Besides, ban on pillion riding was also imposed however, the old citizens, women and the employees of essential services were exempted from the order.

 

The District Police Hyderabad also adopted foolproof security plan to avert any untoward incident during the day.

 

A police spokesman informed that over two thousand policemen and police commandos along with five hundred volunteers were deployed in the district to ensure security of Milad processions taken out from Market, Tilak Incline, Station Road, Phuleli, Latifabad and Qasimabad.

 

All link roads and streets connected with the routes of main Milad procession were sealed with barbed wires, he said and added that closed circuit cameras were also installed at different points of the routes of main Milad procession with deployment of sharpshooters on roof- tops of the buildings.
