GilaniISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said on Wednesday that socio-economic development, particularly of the far flung areas, for bringing them at par with the developed areas, was at top of the government's development programme.

He said in the upcoming budget special attention would be paid and funds would be allocated for backward areas to achieve maximum results.

The Prime Minister was talking to parliamentarians, who called on him separately at his Parliament House Chamber here.

Mentioning the significance of his frequent interaction with elected representatives, the Prime Minister elaborated that it provided a valuable input for the government's policies for public welfare.

He said that the parliamentarians should have close contact with the local population of their respective constituencies to know about their specific requirements and problems.

The parliamentarians informed the Prime Minister about various issues of their respective constituencies. They also put forth suggestions for improvement in the ongoing development schemes in their areas.

The parliamentarians included Minister for Food and Agriculture Mir Israrullah Zehri, MNAs Imtiaz Safdar Waraich, Pir Syed Fazal Shah Gilani, Humayun Aziz Kurd and Hamid Yar Hiraj.
