TOKYO: Tokyo stocks fell 1.02 percent Tuesday as doubts about a eurozone deal to save Spain's banks replaced optimism over the plan to prop up the troubled sector.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 88.18 points to close at 8,536.72, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares declined 0.78 percent, or 5.70 points, to 724.37.
