MARDAN: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Saturday said conspiracies are being hatched against the democracy in the country and warned that the present government will foil all such conspiracies and protect the democratic system.
"There are conspiracies against the democracy and to damage the democratic system but the Pakistan Peoples Party will protect the democracy at all cost and will not allow anti-democratic forces to derail the process," said the Prime Minister while addressing a public meeting here.
A large number of people attended the public meeting despite bad weather, disturbed arrangements of the public meeting due to strong winds and listened to the speech of the Prime Minister with dedication, devotion and enthusiasm.
The Prime Minister said the PPP government has been facing conspiracies, since 2008 when it took over the rule but faced these challenges and conspiracies with the support of the masses.
He said despite all the efforts of the anti-democratic elements, the PPP faced these conspiracies and succeed to present its fifth consecutive budget this year.
Gilani said with the support of the masses, the PPP government foiled the conspiracies and it is credit of the PPP that it has become on of the longest elected government that has presented fifth budget.
The Prime Minister said basically the aim of these conspiracies were to stop Senate elections and to stop presentation of the fifth budget and stop the government to complete its tenure but all these conspiracies were totally fizzled out.
Referring to the role of opposition he said they were sitting in Jeddah and Saudi Arabia, when the PPP was working for the rights of the people.
The Prime Minister said institutions have been strengthened with the revival of 1973 constitution.
He thanked the people to attend the public meeting despite bad weather.
He said due to bad weather, helicopter could not reach at the venue but he decided to drive his car to reach to the venue of the public meeting.
Gilani said it has proved that PPP is the biggest and popular party for which Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto sacrificed their lives adding "It is our duty to complete the mission of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto."
He said he had full faith in the people of the area, who worked for the mission of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He said the manifesto of the Benazir Bhutto and programme will be completed by the present government of the PPP.
The Prime Minister assured the people that it is the responsibility and duty of the government to reach out the masses to provide them basic rights and to resolve their issues.
Appreciating the hospitality given to the internally displaced people by the people of Mardan, he said, the people of the area established a good noble example.
The Prime Minister said with the efforts of the government, the IDPs were sent to their homes within 90 days.
He said Mardan is the Larkana for the PPP, therefore, it has been doing development projects for the area.
The Prime Minister said the government has been working on various development projects in the area at the cost of rupees 96 crore that include rupees 21 crore for electricity, rupees 40 crore for gas, rupees 14 crore for roads and other projects.
He said over one billion rupees have been disbursed through Benazir Income Support Programme and 100,000 people got benefit.
He said it is the policy of the PPP government that terminated employees of Nawaz Sharif government were reinstated and contractual employees of Musharraf government have been regularised.
The Prime Minister said remaining terminated and contractual employees will also be regularised.
He said Benazir Bhutto promised to provide jobs, so the government has announced to generate one lakh jobs in next budget.
