Field Marshal Munir witnesses trials of locally manufactured arms, ammunition at ordnance factory

  • Ordinance factory’s two new industrial plants expected to begin production by year-end, says ISPR
Published Updated

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Saturday visited Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), the country’s largest defence industrial complex, in Wah on Saturday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The visit focused on reviewing POF’s production capabilities, export potential and contribution to Pakistan’s defence industrial base, according to the military’s media wing.

During the visit, the army chief was briefed on various aspects of POF’s operations and its role in strengthening national defence through the indigenous development and production of a wide range of military equipment.

Field Marshal Munir also witnessed tests and trials of locally designed and manufactured arms and ammunition.

The ISPR said the trials reflected POF’s efforts towards innovation, self-reliance and enhancing Pakistan’s indigenous defence production capabilities.

The army chief was also briefed on progress in the corporatisation process following the enactment of the Defence Industrial Production and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DIPRA) Ordinance.

He was further apprised of ongoing indigenisation and upgradation initiatives, including the installation of two new industrial plants that are expected to commence production by the end of the year.

The visit underscored the military’s commitment to strengthening self-reliance, indigenous production and technological innovation in Pakistan’s defence sector.
