02 Jun, 2020

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has decided to raise the issue of plane crash near Karachi airport just before Eid in the coming sessions of the National Assembly.

For this purpose, the PPP has submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat on Monday with the signatures of Dr Nafisa Shah, Shahida Remani, Naz Baloch, and Nasiba Channa.

The budget session of the National Assembly would start on June 5, 2020 in the Parliament building.

PPP Parliamentarians Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah has demanded debate on the issue after suspending usual routine of the session.

She said that 97 precious lives were lost, including the crew and passengers in the tragic PIA plane crash.

Shah said that in the last 10 years this was the fourth such tragic accident.

No report as yet has been issued of the last three crashes, she said.

Shah said that the performance of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has come into question the most in these accidents. The debate should be about the performance of the CAA and the PIA, she concluded.

The motion demands a discussion on the plane crash by suspending the normal proceedings of the House. She said that this was the most tragic PIA plane crash in the country.

Shah said that reports regarding the unfortunate plane crash had not yet been released.

She said the adjournment motion rose important questions including about the performance of the CAA in the accidents, therefore the proceedings of the House should be suspended and the performance of the CAA and the PIA should be discussed.
