Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health and Finance Minister has announced that the culprit who attacked a doctor in Hayatabad Medical Complex on Monday has been arrested.

This is the fourth such incident in the last seven days. In a video, Dr Sanaullah, a training medical officer at Peshawar’s HMC, said he was attacked by three attendants of a suspected coronavirus patient at the hospital’s OPD.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the minister said it broke his heart after hearing about the doctor being attacked. He said the provincial government will do everything to ensure that healthcare workers are secure. He added that if required, they will rapidly bring in legislation to protect against such vandalism.

"I have seen how hard and how professionally our sampling staff do their job," he said.
