The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) decided on Monday to increase 1000 beds with oxygen supply capability in major cities of the country.
Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar who chaired the NCOC meeting today, took to his official Twitter handle and announced the decision.
He said the federal government plans to increase the number of beds in all major hospitals in the country within this month.
Earlier, he said in the past week, the government distributed 250 ventilators to Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgil-Baltistan (GB)
"Of these 72 were given to Punjab, 52 each to Sind and KP and 20 to Balochistan. Balance were given to AJK, GB and Islamabad," he said.
