(Karachi) A 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Islamabad and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
As per details, strong tremors were felt in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mansehra, Chitral and Swat, local media reported. People left their homes in panic when the quake was felt.
However, no loss of life or property have been reported so far. The epicentre of the quake is stated to be in Afghanistan and its depth is 223 kilometers.
Earlier, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake jolted northern areas of the country. In 2005, Pakistan witnessed the deadliest earthquake in its history as 80,000 people lost their lives in Azad Kashmir and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The quake destroyed thousands of homes and buildings.
