Talking to a private news channel, he said it is the responsibility of the government to discuss the matter in a positive manner.
He said "The government would fix date for the next polls. Similarly, government and opposition have role in the formation of caretaker setup."
Therefore, core committee has requested the Prime Minister to contact the leaders of all political parties ( in and outside the Parliament) and consult with them about ensuring transparency in the next elections", he added.
Replying to a question, Wattoo said that political parties would be ready for consultation because they are politically mature. All political parties are united for democracy, on timely elections and the rights of the people, he added.
He said the parties have consensus over the caretaker setup and a mechanism has been evolved in this regard and on appointment of Chief Election Commissioner in the Constitution.
A lot of work has been done during this tenure he said and added that the Parliament has achieved major goal of promoting and consolidating democracy in the country.
