During the hearing of the case today, the chief justice stated that certain parties had declared the accused as a minor so that he may be saved from capital punishment. In response, additional prosecutor Sindh gave details of Shahrukh’s passport as November 27, 1995, as the suspect's date of birth. Furthermore, the chief justice ordered arrest of the individuals involved in aiding Jatoi to escape from the country. Responding to which, additional prosecutor Sindh said Shahrukh’s passport gave Nov 27, 1995 as the suspect’s date of birth. Shahrukh, who was recently transferred to juvenile jail on judicial remand till January 29 for being underage by an Anti-terrorism Court (ATC), had flown abroad on December 27 last year. Shahrukh being a minor could not have managed to escape the country, the chief justice further added. Three other suspects, namely, Siraj Ali Talpur, his younger brother Sajjad Ali Talpur and their house servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari are also in judicial custody.
