He said that the Mobilink Foundation's SMS Based Literacy programme has been nominated for the inaugural `Connected Life Awards' in the category of `Best Mobile Education or Learning Product or Service'. It was pointed out that the `SMS Based Literacy' was launched in May 2009 in collaboration with UNESCO, and is the first and the only service in Pakistan that utilises Short Messaging Service (SMS) to impart education. The programme is currently in its third phase and is being implemented in the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa of Pakistan. Till date, it has reached out to over 4,000 female learners across Pakistan. President and CEO Mobilink, Rashid Khan highlighted, "It is a matter of great pride for Mobilink that our efforts are being recognised on the GSMA platform. The Mobilink Foundation has been the custodian of Mobilink's Corporate Responsibility initiatives since 2007, and the nomination is an acknowledgment of our efforts towards making a difference for the societies in which we operate."
