Priority of provincial caretakers to ensure transparency in election: Sethi

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Najam Sethi said Saturday that top priority of the provincial caretaker setup was to conduct election in a peaceful and transparent manner and improvement of law and order in the Punjab.

Talking to a private television channel, Sethi said that provincial caretaker setup will focus on fair administration and to maintain law and order situation for ensuring free and fair election in the province.

He said that all available resources would be utilized for improving law and order situation in coming elections.

Najam Sethi said that provincial caretaker setup believes in maintaining good working relations with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and all the issues be resolved with consensus.

Caretaker CM said that provincial caretaker cabinet members would be neutral and nonpartisan technocrats and cabinet would consist of eight members.

Replying to a question, he said that he was fully committed to ensure free, fair and transparent polls and positive criticism.

Najam sethi said that provincial care taker government has established a complaint unit to find any irregularities in election process.

He said that general elections will be conducted in a free and fair atmosphere and effective security arrangements would be made for public meetings and rallies.
