Govt to spend Rs4.5bn on laser units, drip irrigation system

MULTAN: Punjab government will spend Rs4.5 billion to install three thousand Laser units to facilitate the process of soil levelling, and drip irrigation system in the province in order to boost agriculture sector.

According to official sources, government has planned to introduce high efficiency irrigation system at 1,20,000 acres across the province.

The government would offer special incentives to promote drip irrigation system and laser units. These measures are meant to facilitate farmers availing the latest technology.

Executive District Officer (EDO) Agriculture, Sardar Akbar while talking to APP informed that 15 farmers were offered laser levellers recently and a subsidy amounting to Rs2,25,000 was given on each unit.

Likewise, Agriculture department offered 50 per cent subsidy on the installation of sprinkle system over an area of 350 acres, said the sources.
