MULTAN: Flash flood of River Chenab is likely to enter limits of districts Multan and Muzaffargarh on Sunday afternoon.

District administration Multan has started to evacuate people from the low lying areas.

A spokesman of District Administration Multan told media that District administration has started to evacuate people from the low lying areas. The emergency Rescue 1122 to shift the people of low laying areas to safer places by tomorrow evening.

He said 16 relief camps have been set up for flood affected people and seventy percent work of vaccination of animals has also been completed.

Meanwhile‚ services of Pakistan Army have been sought for the rescue and relief activities.

In Gujrat‚ eight villages have been inundated in rain and floodwaters. Standing crops specially rice has been damaged due to floods.

Sindh Irrigation Department has made elaborate arrangements to counter any eventuality arising from the flood water.

Provincial Secretary Irrigation Balur Hussain Afridi told media that the staff of the Irrigation Department is patrolling along the protective bund along Sukkur-Guddu and Kotri barrages.

A hydrological situation report informed that River Indus at Chashma‚ River Chenab at Marala‚ Khanki and Qadirabad are at high flood. River Indus at Kalabagh‚ Taunsa‚ Guddu and River Kabul at Nowshera are at medium flood.

Nullahs of River Ravi and Chenab are likely to continue at high to very high flood levels during the next 24 hours.
