Two killed in Karachi violence, 25 suspects arrested, arms, looted valuables recovered

KARACHI: At least two persons were killed and several others injured in fresh spate of violence in different areas of the metropolis. The police and Rangers during separate targeted search operations in different localities of the city arrested 25 suspects and recovered arms and other looted valuables from their possession.

According to police, the first incident took place on Jigar Muradabadi Road near Guru Mandar where armed assailants gunned down 55-year-old Raees Ahmed over personal enmity and fled the scene. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

In yet another incident of firing in New Karachi No 5, a man whose identity was not confirmed was killed.

More than 13 persons were reported injured in separate firing incidents across the city. The wounded people were shifted to various hospitals of the concerned areas.

SSP Ahmed Jamal said that police arrested nine accused, involved in street crime and extortion, from Shah Latif Town.

Police nabbed three alleged extortionists during raids in Khamosh Colony and Chakiwara area of Lyari. Two suspects were arrested from Hazara Colony.

Two accused, involved in the murder of police personnel, were taken into custody from Zaman Town, Korangi.

Boat Basin police arrested two dacoits from Hijrat colony and recovered arms, snatched mobile and a motorcycle from their custody. The nabbed culprits were identified as Arsalan and Muhammad Shahid.

Nine accused, involved in murder, robbery and other crimes, were taken into custody from Malir City area.

Several other suspects were arrested during Rangers’ targeted operation in Federal B Area and Purana Haji Camp. They were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.
