ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways will purchase 58 new locomotives from China during the current year.

Railway officials say the delivery is expected to start by November this year.

The government has taken a number of measures to restore freight trains and make non operational trains operational.

According to Railway officials‚ fifty eight new locomotives will be purchased from China and the delivery is expected to start by November this year.

The officials said that refurbishing of four hundred passenger coaches with better facilities is in progress at Railway Carriage Factory Islamabad.

The officials said process to procure over two hundred modern design high speed coaches from China at a cost of about 134.50 million dollars is also in progress.
