Interior minister orders to cancel 2,000 passports

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chauhdry Nisar Ali Khan has directed the authorities concerned to take action against unscrupulous elements in the Islamabad Police, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Revenue Department.

The minister, who chaired a high level meeting at the Interior Ministry on Saturday, also ordered to cancel 2,000 passports issued against rules and regulations.

During the meeting, the Director General Immigration and Passports briefed Nisar on the performance and initiatives launched by his directorate.

Nisar categorically stated that blue passports will be issued to entitled persons only, and there will be no relaxation of rules in this regard.

The DG further remarked that a computerised check has been placed on the process of issuing blue passports to prevent its misuse in the future.

The minister said that action would be taken after identifying corrupt elements in the FIA, police and other departments. Nisar told the local administration to remove corrupt officials from the Revenue Department.

He directed the FIA to expedite action against those involved in human trafficking.

The Chief Commissioner of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration informed the meeting about the campaign against adulteration in drugs, revealing that licenses of six drug stores had been suspended so far, with one license cancelled and two drug stores sealed as per the directives of the minister.
