The 2011 budget sets the deficit at 40.2 billion zlotys.

The finance ministry also said it had a total of around 4.3 billion euros at its disposal at the end of April.

The central budget gap is a narrower measure than the deficit counted by Eurostat for European Union membership purposes and excludes many positions in public finances, such as various state agencies or local governments' borrowing.
