The rally started from Markazi Jamia Masjid Block 1 after Jumma prayers in which a large number of people participated. All markets, bazaars and commercial areas including Muslim Bazaar, Liaqat Market, Block 4 Market, Katchery Bazaar and adjacent markets remained closed and a large number of law enforcement officials had been deployed.
Addressing the protesters at Shaheen Chowk, Ulema said the incident was a conspiracy to disturb peace and urged the participants to restrain from indulging in violent activities.
