October is the first month of the new 2013/2014 harvesting season. Coffee exports from Mexico during the previous 2012/2013 season totaled 3.37 million 60-kg bags, virtually unchanged from shipments during the previous 2011/2012 cycle, according to AMECAFE data.
The coffee season in Central America and Mexico, which together produce more than one-fifth of the world's arabica beans, runs from October through September.
