LG Minister orders cleanliness in city in 72 hours

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information and Local Government, Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed the municipal officials to complete sanitation, remove accumulated stagnant water and finish the task of cleanliness of the streets and roads in the city within 72 hours. The Minister also warned that delay in the given assignment would not be tolerated. That, in case of failure, the responsible officials would given legal punishment not less than suspending from their service.

According to an official statement here on Wednesday, the Minister directed Sindh Local Government Secretary Muhammad Jawaid Hanif khan to personally monitor the cleanliness campaign in the metropolis and play his due role in keeping the city clean.

He issued such directives to Administrator, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Rauf Akhtar Farooqui and the officers of District Municipal Corporations in a meeting, chaired by him in his office, to review the sanitation and cleanliness issues of the city.

The Minister said there were heaps of garbage on various points of the city and number of complaints have been lodged by the citizen.

The officials of the Local Government and Municipal Corporations should start special cleanliness campaign across the metropolis and complete it within next 72 hours.

The Minister ordered the Sindh Secretary for Local Government to visit different areas of the city to ensure that the cleanliness campaign is properly completed within the scheduled time.
