CJP stresses lawyers' role in provision of justice

LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jilani has stressed lawyers to play their due role in the supremacy of law and the Constitution and not to delay cases without any reason.

Addressing the 32nd enrolment certificate distribution ceremony among senior lawyers here at Supreme Court Lahore Registry on Saturday, the CJP said harmony between the bar and bench was important for the provision of justice.

Tassaduq Hussain said an effective constitutional role of judiciary not only promoted justice in society but also protected rights of the common man.

The CJP said that the constitutional limits of national institutions were clear and judiciary would play its role if any institution crossed them.

The CJP congratulated the newly enrolled lawyers and also stressed them to fully support the Supreme Court in constitutional matters and take all possible measures to address problems of people who come to them with their cases.

The CJP distributed enrolment certificates among 75 senior advocates from Lahore, Rawlapindi, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Karachi, RY Khan and Islamabad.
