Police constable, Nasir Khan son of Azam Khan, resident of Sherpao Charssada district, who sustained critical wounds expired at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar while 39 injured are being treated in Peshawar and Charsadda hospitals.
According to Charsadda police spokesman, the injured also included a woman Jan Bibi and her son Owais Khan son of Torab Khan of Charsadda.
According to details, the gory incident occurred on Charsadda-Nowshera Road near Farooq Azam chowk where a police van en-route to Police Lines came under attack.
People in large number were busy in shopping in bazaar near Farooq Azam Chowk when a huge explosion occurred, killing policeman Nasir Khan and injuring 39 others including 12 policemen. The injured policemen are Feroz, Asad, Akhtar, Hanif, Liaquat, Driver Sartaj, Ilyas, Jan Muhammad, Asad Jan, Farman, Kaleem and Abdullah sustained injuries.
The civilians injured identified as Niaz Ali s/o Phelowan Shah (Shahpasand Charsadda), Bilal s/o Tahir Shah (Charsadda), Tajwali s/o Hakeem Khan (Parang), Sohail s/o Ajab Gul (Saeed Bagh Charsadda) , Murad Ali s/o Naseeb Jan(Dir), Haider Zaman (Charsadda), Faridoon Shah (Umerabad Charsadda), Muhammad Rehman s/o Shamsur Rehman (Charsadda), Abdul Rehman s/o Ameen (Charsadda), Abdul Ali s/o Ajab Gul (Charsadda), Lali Badshah s/o Gul Muhammad, Rahat Shah s/o Haleem Khan, Zahirullah s/o Noorud Din, Muhammad Ishaq s/o Sher Ahmed, Hazrat Ali s/o Faras (Charsadda), Muhammad Shafiq (Charsadda), Javed s/o Behroz Khan (Charsadda), Abdul Latif resident of Rajar Charsadda.
As many as eleven injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar where police tailor Nasir Ali succumbed to his injuries. Emergency has been enforced in hospitals LRH and DHQ Hospital Charsadda.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has strongly condemned the bomb blast in District Charsadda, targeting police jawans on Tuesday and said that the nation will always feel proud on the immortal sacrifices of the police cops and officers who have been ensuring security to people at the cost of their own lives.
The Governor has also expressed his deep shock over the loss of precious lives especially of the police jawans who have embraced martyrdom in incidents of similar nature in Badhaber area of Peshawar earlier last night and further observed that he fully share the grief and sorrows of the bereaved families.
